Mobile MiniCrete was founded in 2023 by John Westerlund, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the concrete industry.   

The Westerlund family’s concrete legacy began in the late 1800s, when John Westerlund’s grandfather immigrated from Sweden and established a successful sand and gravel business in the United States. This foundation of craftsmanship and innovation continued into the next generation, as John’s father became a mason contractor, later designing and building concrete pumps, securing multiple patents, and co-founding Construction Forms Inc., now a leading manufacturer of concrete pumping systems.

Inspired by this heritage, John moved to Nashville in 1986 and began working for the city’s original concrete pump contractor, Leon Syler. In 1989, he purchased his first concrete pump and launched his own journey in the industry. That path ultimately led to the creation of Westerlund Shotcrete, Inc., a company that became Middle Tennessee’s trusted name for projects involving concrete and structural challenges. As John often said, “Concrete runs in my veins.”

In 2021, after decades of growth and service, John sold Westerlund Shotcrete to his foreman of eight years.  John turned his attention to an unmet need in the region: reliable, high quality concrete delivery for projects too small for traditional ready-mix trucks and too demanding for hand mixing.

The idea for Mobile Minicrete started with John’s own frustration tackling small concrete jobs at home, where mixing multiple bags by hand in a wheelbarrow was slow and exhausting. Knowing there had to be a better way, and drawing on decades in the industry, he founded Mobile Minicrete, Inc. in 2025 to provide dependable small‑batch concrete delivery. The company specializes in mobile mixing and bagged concrete delivery, offering an efficient solution that bridges the gap between DIY mixing and traditional ready-mix services.
